Alaskan Midnight Sunsets......

Well I had to come back to work for a week to rest up for the next three weeks I have off. I didn't get my fireplace parts until the last Friday I was home so I only got to work on it two days. Sandi's dad Kris was up from Maine so we spent the week working on timbers for the barn. I hope to have all of the concrete for the chimney poured my first couple of days home next week. I'll post more pictures of it when I break it out of the mold.

Here are a few pictures I took last night at about 11PM after I finished mixing concrete for the outdoor fireplace. I took them standing on top of the pavilion. Summer sunlight makes up for the winter darkness, we just seem to forget this come January each winter.

Alpaca Day....

Today was shearing day for the alpacas (and two llamas) and Sandi had to work so Thane and I were on duty. We took them to a farm in Wasilla where the Shearer came to after finishing another farm. First you have to use a blower to blow all of the dirt, hay, and leaves out of them then they have to be layed down and the shearing commences.

The process.

Our crew after the storm.

Whoa!

What just happened??

Before...

After!

The End!

Timberframe Barn/Shop.....

Well, I've ordered the last 3 big timbers that we need for the timberframe and have a bit of help coming to make things go a little faster. Sandi's dad Kris is here fram Maine and hopefully we will get the rafters all cut before he heads home. In June I have another timberframer visiting from Maine for two weeks. If all goes well hopefully we will get everything cut except the big three timbers that aren't due in until July. I'd really like to be ready for an August or September raising if things go as planned.

Between this and my fireplace my project book is full for awhile.

Here are a couple of drawings of our frame plans.
